FAQ

1.  How far is it to the nearest shops/supermarkets?

“The small village of Montferrer, a ten minute walk, has a bar where you can buy freshly baked bread, croissants, etc. mornings and afternoons, and also has a small selection of stock items.  There is also a small basic, village restaurant.

The village of Corsavy is a ten minute drive and has a restaurant/shop “Chez Francoise”, which sells cheeses, local vegetables and tinned goods and you can also have a drink in the restaurant bar whilst shopping.

The closest town, Arles-sur-Tech, with a restaurant, shops and a supermarket is a fifteen minute drive.  Amelie-les-Bains is a twenty minute drive and has several restaurants, bars, shops and a daily morning market.  Ceret also has a large Saturday morning market.

As you drive up the valley after leaving the motorway, there are several large supermarkets on the way to the property.”

2.  How private are the properties?

“The three houses are set at the edge of the property’s private woodland.  They are built on separate large terraces going up the slope of the hill.  Have their own gardens, totally private areas and pools.  When you are around the pool you cannot view the pool of the other property.  The owners house is on the bottom of the three terraces and faces towards the driveway entrance of the property and doesn’t view directly the Villa or the Mas.  Although the owners or caretakers are around, every effort is taken to ensure your privacy during your stay.  Should you need help or have a problem, the owners are around but generally you’ll only see them on arriving and departing by the main entrance driveway.  In a decade of renting, privacy has never been an issue with clients, many returning year after year, in fact our longest returning American clients have returned for seven consecutive years.”

3.  What’s the difference between the Villa and The Mas?

The pool of The Mas is very large, bigger than most hotel pools.  The pool of the Villa is normal size but is heated.  The Mas is an old renovated farmhouse with a separate dining room, kitchen and living room but the overall floor area is the same as The Villa.

The Villa was a new addition to the property and has high ceilings and a more open plan feel with the living, kitchen, dining area all on one level leading to the Villa garden and pool.

The bedrooms of the Villa are also slightly larger.

We have many returning clients who generally book early and could choose either of the two properties, but some prefer the Villa and some prefer the Mas, it’s a matter of personal taste.

4.  What do we need to bring for the houses?

Both houses are equipped as private homes and you should find everything you need in terms of equipment, linen and towels etc.  Should you have any special requirements or need more information please do not hesitate to ask.

5.  What will the weather be like during our stay?

We are an hour from the Mediterranean and have a Mediterranean climate.  It’s impossible to predict the weather, as like everywhere in the world now the weather is more unpredictable, but we generally have the seasonal weather normally expected for this region of the Mediterranean, which is the farthest south you can go before reaching northern Spain (Catalonia).
